Paving the way for the 21st century surgeons!!
“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams” Eleanor Roosevelt
On behalf of AAGL, APAGE and ESGE we invite you to join us for a busy and creative meeting on the future of Gynecologic Surgery!
At the beginning of the 21st century, we endoscopic surgeons were convinced that laparotomy would disappear within 20 years! Yet 17 years later we still face many hurdles and questions.
Laparotomy is still used for many benign indications.
Laparoscopic surgery remains challenging for many surgeons, because they lack access to the required technology or because endoscopic ergonomics is not exactly simple.
A poorly performed simple laparoscopic cystectomy might damage the ovary.
When conventional surgeons convert to endoscopy, the complications associated with the initial steps of laparoscopy inevitably reoccur.
Minimally invasive procedures are not possible everywhere in the world.
New technologies and endoscopic approaches have been developed without clear clinical benefits, yet with increasing costs and/or complexity!
So, in this rapidly evolving world, we offer worldwide experts and all surgeons interested a short break in Clermont-Ferrand to discuss where gynecologic surgery should go within the next 20 years. Teaching, credentialing, quality in surgery and the role of new tools such as robotics, augmented reality, and pneumoperitoneum parameters, will be discussed without preexisting or preconceived ideas.
