Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

  • Review current strategies for repair or replacement of the mitral valve
  • Assess the need for aortic valve replacement as well as emerging interventional procedure options for the treatment of aortic stenosis
  • Identify appropriate hypertrophic cardiomyopathy patients for septal alcohol ablation
  • Describe current diagnosis and treatment of pericardial disease and whom to select for surgery
  • Identify strategies for patent forman ovale (PFO) and atrial septal defect (ASD) closure
  • Describe techniques to obliterate the left atrial appendage percutaneously
