Welcome message:

This annual course is designed to provide a case-based update on the diagnosis and treatment of commonly encountered cardiovascular conditions. Expert faculty will focus on challenging aspects of coronary artery disease, atrial fibrillation, congestive heart failure, valvular heart disease, congenital heart disease, pulmonary hypertension, obstructive sleep apnea, and preventive cardiology. This case-based review will address the relevant guidelines and latest treatment options for patients with these conditions.


LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:


Review diagnosis and treatment of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction

Describe diagnosis and treatment of high output heart failure and peripartum cardiomyopathy

Review current options for revascularization of coronary artery disease

Describe the approach to evaluation and treatment of myocardial infarction in setting of normal coronary arteries and following non-cardiac surgery

Review the J-shaped relationship of blood pressure control and clinical outcomes

Review the management of statin intolerance

Describe how to assess and manage patients with bicuspid aortic valve disease, mitral regurgitation, and severe tricuspid regurgitation

Describe how to assess a patient with a mechanical mitral valve replacement and high gradient

Review etiology of atrial fibrillation and factors influencing natural history

Review the role of aspirin therapy for stroke prevention in patients with atrial fibrillation

Review challenging cases and treatment decisions inpatients with atrial fibrillation

Describe an approach to the diagnosis and etiology of pacemaker dysfunctionR

Review the classification and treatment of pulmonary hypertension

Describe the available treatment options in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

Describe the diagnosis and management of cancer treatment related cardiotoxicity

Describe an approach to the diagnosis of refractory pericarditis

Review the risk factors for mortality in Eisenmenger syndrome
