Course Description :
Screening, early diagnosis and management are of the utmost importance to reduce the risk of Chlamydia and gonorrhea infections associated morbidity. In this article, we will review the epidemiology and risk factors for Chlamydia and gonorrhea infections, strategies for screening and diagnosing, including the key role of NAAT laboratory testing. Finally, we will also discuss treatment strategies for the patient and sex partner.
Course Objectives :
After participating in this educational activity, participants should be better able to:
• Summarize of current CDC STI diagnosis and treatment guidelines for Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhea Infections
• Describe the burden of disease and epidemiology of Chlamydial trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhea STI's in the United States
• Plan appropriate testing that will facilitate the earlier screening and diagnosis of Chlamydial trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhea infections
