Congress of Orthopaedics and Traumatology
May we kindly draw your attention at this time to the DKOU, Congress of Orthopaedics and Traumatology in Berlin, 20 - 23 October 2015. Our motto ”Hinterm Horizont – Beyond the horizon”, was very popular in Germany in the 80s, when Udo Lindenberg came out with a song about a love story that crossed the inner German border. The Iron curtain and the German Wall came down in 1989 and Lindenberg’s highly politically motivated lyrics became a reality: beyond the horizon – a new day – united we are strong.
For many years orthopaedics and traumatology have been on their way to becoming a united and strong speciality in German medicine.
During the German Congress of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (DKOU) 2015 we would like to keep this powerful and positive motto and go beyond the German horizon to also invite physicians and scientists from other specialities thereby expanding and exceeding the boundaries of our medical field.
Beyond the horizon of German speaking countries we will open our Congress to non-German speaking participants. According to our motto we are raising the curtains and sharing our wide range of knowledge and knowhow in orthopaedics and trauma surgery with colleagues from all over the world. For the first time we have been calling for abstracts in English and building up international sessions in English at the DKOU 2015.
As a country in the middle of Europe we also want to foster our friendship with our Turkish colleagues. Turkey will be our guest nation and their society TSOT (TOTBID) will be our partner society at the 2015 congress, beyond the European horizon.
So all together let us advance our common responsibility and leadership for the good of our patients, treating and caring for people in need and developing new strategies and scientific methods – united we are strong!
