SOFCOT is 100 years old and the AOT congress, from Monday 12th to Thursday 15th November 2018, will evolve focusing on your specialties, to allow you to optimize your time.
The Orthorisq session will take place on Monday afternoon . Teaching conferences no longer take place on Mondays. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the half-day sessions will include a teaching conference, a round table or a symposium and communications . The distribution of ½ days is made in such a way as to avoid, as was already the case, simultaneous presentations on the same subject. The specialty day is always Wednesday.
the reduction of the duration of the communication to 8 minutes including 2 minutes of discussion, an increased amplitude of time (7:45 - 18:00) and buffets distributed among the exhibitors at mid-day will allow you longer breaks to exchange with your colleagues and our industrial partners. The exhibition will begin on Monday afternoon and will make a large part of new technologies (connected patient, simulation, virtual reality).
The three symposia (osteonecrosis of the femoral head, RAAC after THA and PTG and failure of the osteosynthesis material) will interest you by their very clinical aspect as well as several round tables.
Research communications with a direct link to the clinic will be included in the within ½ days of the corresponding theme to help you anticipate the near future. This will bring together all the more basic research on Thursday afternoon.
Switzerland is the guest nation and Professor Gerber will give a lecture on Switzerland's contribution to Orthopedics at the opening session on Tuesday afternoon.
The Francophone Society of Arthroscopy is the associated company in the spotlight and will present its work on Thursday morning.
The theme of the year is Medical Decision
This conference will also celebrate the centenary of the SOFCOT with the provision of delegates of a book recalling the great French innovations in orthopedics for a century, and the armistice of the 1 st World War with a roundtable of military orthopaedists of countries that took part in the conflict to highlight the progress made, and an exhibition on the Army Health Service and the beginnings of radiology, as well as models of orthopedic devices by François Humbert (1776-1850) of the Musée de Bar- the Duke.
Finally, the gala evening will be held on Wednesday evening in the beautiful setting of the Museum of the Army Health Service in Val de Grace .
This year will be important professionally . The decrees implementing NPCs, expected in the coming weeks, will specify the modalities of governance. The CNP-COT will be an essential interlocutor this year for our supervisors who will initiate many reforms and even transformations both in the private sector (especially on the episode of care) and public (reform of UHC, organization of GHT) and finally in relations with our industrial partners. These issues have in common the reflection on " the quality and relevance of care ", One of the 4 priority themes identified by the government, whose definition and evaluation are complex and whose interpretation may be different between orthopedic surgeons and their guardianship. In discussions with them we will have to have irrefutable arguments to support our proposals. These arguments may in part be based on the scientific work of AOT
There is also the e-congress that is enjoying a growing success and will take place this year on Saturday, April 7 and of course all meetings of Associated Societies.
These adaptations should allow SOFCOT to begin its 2 nd century looking to the future and be ready to face the important changes that are emerging for society in general and our health system in particular.
