SUITABLE FOR: SET Trainees, Fellows and Consultants in Endocrine Surgery, General Surgery, Head and Neck Surgery. Limited Observer positions are available. Limited positions are also available for Theatre Nurses in assisting and scrubbing for workshop participants.
This highly practical cadaveric workshop will provide hands on mentoring in the steps and technique to give a thorough understanding of radical neck dissection for thyroid carcinoma. An expert Faculty will mentor the dissection and provide expert, practical feedback to participants. The workshop includes an interactive faculty panel discussion covering expert advice and alternative radical neck dissection techniques.
The cadaveric models provide excellent anatomical realism and near normal tissue properties for repeated practise.
Workshop Content
Presentations and practical cadaveric sessions cover the following advanced procedures:
Sternocleidomastoid muscle (SCM) dissection
Posterior triangle
Control of the thoracic duct
Contralateral modified radical neck dissection
Thyroidectomy
Central neck dissection
Video presentations of the following techniques are also included:
Skin flap and SCM dissection
CN XI and posterior triangle (spinal accessory nerve)
Dissection of the carotid sheath
