Event Overview
Welcome message:
On behalf of the CFSGBI, I very much look forward to seeing you in Birmingham, UK, for the Annual Conference of the Craniofacial Society of Great Britain and Ireland 2013.  The conference will be held in the state of the art International Conference Centre http://www.theicc.co.uk/the-venue situated in the heart of the city of Birmingham. As clinicians we all strive continuously to improve the quality of care that we provide and the outcomes we can achieve.  Information is the key to these endeavours and to delivering effective evidence based change.  The theme of this year\'s Scientific Meeting is \'Measuring Outcomes, Driving Quality\'.  In very different ways, all our Keynote Speakers are experts with information, developing outcome measures, monitoring outcomes and using data to drive change and provide evidence for change.  I am excited to hear how their experiences and expertise can add to the discussion about the continued development of care in craniofacial conditions. In addition, we will of course have an update on national and international research projects. The Social Programme includes a reception on the Wednesday evening at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery http://www.bmag.org.uk/birmingham-museum with the opportunity to have a guided viewing of their fine collection of Pre Raphaelite art and some of the Staffordshire hoard held there.  The Conference Dinner will be held on the Thursday evening in the International Conference Centre followed by music and dancing.  I am delighted to let you know that the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra will be performing on the Wednesday and Friday nights in the world class Symphony Hall.  Concert programme details are available and tickets can be booked via the website http://www.cbso.co.uk/?page=concerts&m=04&y=2013&s.x=18&s.y=6. Birmingham is easily accessible by road, rail and air with an international airport 10 minutes by train from the city centre.  There are numerous hotels within walking distance of the International Conference Centre and we have organised special rates at a number of these.  We encourage you to book accommodation early as the very best deals can be found the earlier you book.  The International Conference Centre itself is situated next to the canal system of Birmingham with numerous canal side cafes and restaurants and within walking distance of the noted Bullring shopping centre.I look forward to seeing you in Birmingham.  I trust you will have a most enjoyable and stimulating conference. With best wishes,Rona SlatorPresident, Craniofacial Society of Great Britain and Ireland, 2012/13
