This two-day course will provide a multidisciplinary review of nonmelanoma skin cancer (NMSC) and malignant melanoma (MM) with respect to current standards of practice and advances in treatment. The first day will review advances in melanoma treatment and the second day will review treatment of NMSC, such as Merkel cell carcinoma, and high risk basal cell (BCC) or squamous cell carcinoma (SCC).

TARGET AUDIENCE:
This course is designed for dermatologists, surgical oncologists, medical oncologists, plastic surgeons, physicians in internal medicine and family practice, physician extenders such as nurse practitioners and physician assistants that practice in the above specialties.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
Understand the epidemiologic burden of NMSC (including SCC, BCC, and Merkel cell carcinoma) and MM
Understand current staging and prognostic stratification systems for NMSC and MM
Understand recent data on the use of Mohs surgery for the treatment of cutaneous malignancies.
Understand standard surgical techniques for biopsy and excision of melanoma
Examine the use of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other targeted therapies in the treatment of advanced melanoma
Understand emerging therapies in the treatment of advanced melanoma
Discuss treatment of localized and advanced Merkel cell carcinoma
Discuss treatment of advanced Squamous cell carcinoma and Basal Cell Carcinoma
Understand the role of a dermatoscope at a basic level to evaluate skin lesions
Understand the role of sentinel node biopsy and lymph node dissection in the management of melanoma
