Event Overview
Welcome message:

Dear Colleagues,

diet plays an increasingly crucial role in any attempt to enjoy a balanced life-style. Food, in fact, plays an essential part in the prevention of certain long-term (chronic) serious diseases, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes/metabolic syndrome, stroke, tumors. and other pathologies. This conditions have risen continuously and to a significant degree in recent decades within populations all over the world.

The goal of the conference is to analyze this key fact and goes on to in detail the importance of various factors correlated with diet to human healt.

Eating and lifestyles contributes to cause or, as opposed, to prevent the onset of some of the most serious and widespread chronic disases; greater efficacy prevention make possible to attain better results overall, in part because prevention work to the benefit of a broader share of the population than does medical treatment (especially in the prevention of obesity and overweight, now considered two of the most critical factors for health). Prevention is one of the chief strategic approaches in the effort to ensure the sustainability of health systems burdened by constantly rising levels of investment and operating costs, as seems to be the case in every nation in the world.

For all these reasons, the gradual shift we’ve seen over the last years from treating diseases to preventing them, is welcome.Still, not enougt has been done yet, especially in the face of the dramatic change in world dietary habits. But prevention is an essential and not fully explored area for the future of medicine and nutrition science. Prevention appears to be fundamental to ensuring that the younger generations do not find themselves saddled with inferior conditions of health and welfare compared with those enjoyed by preceding generations.

By itself, however, information about diet is not enough, the problem is bigger than that. Everywhere we see a way of life emerging that involve can increase in the average quantity of calories ingested, the emergence of nutritionally unbalanced dietary models, significant reductions in time spent in physical activity, and the loss of value attribuited to food as a central social and cultural element of everyday life. To prevent these trends from spreading their devastation, what is required is the rediscovery and renewed appreciation of an idea of food and lifestyle centered on “quality”: a reduction of the quantity of food that we consume and a greater focus on the quality of that food, but also on the quality of the way we live and the quality of the relationship between man and food. We must rediscover and appreciate the social and cultural importance of the act of eating.

So, the congress aim is to analyze the role played by different dietary and behavioral choices in preventing the most significant chronic diseases and to review the principal findings in the International scientific literature on the relationship between diet and cardiovascular diseases, diabetic diseases, stroke, cancers and other pathologies.

The conference provides also the opportunity to discuss your specialty at an International level through exchanging ideas and knowledge with colleagues from different countries, networking with other professionals in a multidisciplinary setting and participating in social and educational events.

We hope all the speakers and delegates can enjoy Stresa /Milan and the traditional hospitality as well as the social activities we have prepared, and where you can meet with colleagues and friends from all regions of the world.

Our wish is that you have a fruitful and successful conference, enjoy your stay and leave Stresa/Milan with unforgettable fond memories.

With the collaboration and support of all attendants and with the spirit of partnership and working together we hope that achieving the goal of the conference is a fact.
