The practitioner of emergency medicine must possess evidence-based scientific background for competent clinical practice; maintain state-of-the-art knowledge of the specialty and all additional related disciplines; maintain an up-to-the-minute armamentarium of knowledge and skills for the selection and use of complex equipment, pharmacological agents, and procedures; manage self and colleagues to function toward common goals in providing consistent care in all settings in which emergency care is provided; serve as an expert in matters involving quality, safe and equitable health care delivery and support of other service providers, departments, institutions, and organizations dependent upon professional expertise.

Presentations are designed to facilitate the acquisition of cognitive and technical skills as defined through evidenced based data translated to best practice standards by the pertinent governmental and professional organizations including the American College of Emergency Physicians, American College of Surgeons and the E mergency Nurses Association and abilities in one or more of the disciplines vital to the practicing professional. 

OBJECTIVES

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

Apply the pertinent physical and behavioral sciences as they impact and are affected by the planning, delivery, and monitoring of services inherent in the professions

Explain the selection, dosing considerations with methods of administration, safe use, contraindications and precautions of drugs based on their chemical and pharmacologic properties

Outline comprehensive patient management plans for the special patient population discussed

Apply the principles of safety and asepsis in the performance of all aspects of patient care regardless of the clinical environment in which the practice resides

Incorporate the published tenets of pertinent, recognized external organizations, institutions, and professional groups defining medical, legal, philosophical, ethical, and health care management standards.

Located on one of the most majestic peninsulas in the world and offering spectacular views of the Sea of Cortes, Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos is a luxurious all inclusive oasis of sophistication and comfort. Their all-inclusive experience offers a myriad of activities from fine dining options at six à la carte restaurants and two gourmet buffet restaurants, to unique spa treatments, Children’s programming, and nightly entertainment. Enjoy deep-water fishing, scuba diving, world-class golf, or simply relax and soak up the sun on the resort’s breathtaking beachfront. There are also five swimming pools on property to choose from. (Fees apply for some activities.) This magnificent beachfront resort is situated in an exclusive area of San José del Cabo, just 10 minutes from the city center, 20 minutes from the Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) airport, and just 25 minutes from Cabo San Lucas.

Please be aware that Hotel Ziva is an all-inclusive resort. If you choose to stay elsewhere, you will be charged approximately $115 per person per day for entry into the resort even if you are only attending the seminar. This is a firm resort policy. This fee is subject to change without notice at the discretion of resort management. The fee will allow you wireless Internet access and one lunch per day in the Buffet Restaurant (alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks included.) Any unused items of the Day Pass package are not refundable or exchangeable for any other services. Private events, breakfast, and dinner are not included.

The all-Inclusive plan includes: 7 nights accommodations, all service charges, applicable taxes and gratuities, breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks at the resort, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks at all of the hotels food and beverage outlets from 8am to 2am, mini bar drinks, non-motorized water sports, exercise facilities, daytime tennis courts, table games, scheduled stage shows, and mini club activities. Package starts with lunch on the arrival date and finishes with breakfast on the departure date. Basic Internet access (one device per guest) will be provided on a complimentary basis for those who book their room through NWS/NWWT only. All rooms feature a sofa, refreshment center, and a balcony or terrace. Airport shuttle not included.
