Event Overview
Welcome message:

In recent years, the advancement in endodontic instrumentation, bio materials and imaging, coupled with enhanced visibility with operating microscopes drastically increased the success rates and predictability of endodontic microsurgery. This course will provide literature-based presentation of the etiology, rationale and various technical aspects of endodontic microsurgery. The course will also deliver a thorough overview of case selection, armamentarium, patient/doctor positioning, surgical techniques and pre/post operative issues.

This course will allow participants to engage in hands-on laboratory exercises on simulated anatomical 3D printed surgical models using microscopy. In addition, live patient endodontic microsurgery will be performed to allow real-time interaction between the participants and the operator.

Understand the etiology of periradicular pathosis of endodontic origin

Understand the concepts and techniques of hemostasis in apical surgery

Understand the concepts behind different flap designs suitable for apical surgery

Understand the selection criteria for proper surgical cases with predictable outcomes

Participants will acquire knowledge and skills in apical tissue excavation, root end resection, retro preparation and retro filling using bioactive materials.

Participants will learn to use specific surgical instruments and ergonomics for optimal positioning of patients and the operator

Understand the indications and techniques for the use of bone grafting and barrier usage

Participants will acquire suturing skills for different flap designs

Workshop Exercises

Simulated anatomical 3D printed surgical models

Full thickness marginal and submarginal flaps

Root end resection and excavation of apical granulation tissue

Retro-preparation with ultrasonic instruments
