CCIB – Centre de Convencions Internacional de Barcelona #

The CCIB - Centre de Convencions Internacional de Barcelona came into being in 2004 with the 2004 Universal Forum of Cultures. Following the Forum, management of the Convention Centre was subsequently awarded to GL events CCIB SL, a company created specifically for this purpose. The corporate form of the CCIB is therefore that of a Limited Liability Company (LLC), with the following shareholder structure: GL events: 80% Barcelona City Council: 12% Association of Barcelona Hoteliers: 8% GL events, established in Lyon in 1978, is a world leader in the events sector. In 2011, this group operated a global network of 91 event locations, employed a workforce of 3,700 and generated turnover of 783 million euros. The CCIB’s client profile is composed of three main types: Agencies specialised in staging events for other organisations Private companies which organise an event directly Associations active in specific fields of the knowledge sector. At the CCIB we are able to organise events of any type, whether local or international. Given the characteristics of the Convention Centre, however, we offer outstanding capacity for the organisation of large-scale events with a global reach. These also have a positive impact on the city of Barcelona regarding hotel occupation, catering and other services related to the event. In this regard, 83% of our turnover is generated by international events attended by visitors from all over the world. It is also noteworthy that 42% of our clients are from other countries. We would like to offer you a selection of the events organised by the CCIB since it opened for business up to 2011, as well as - with the kind permission of the respective organisers - notable events already confirmed for the future.

Event Overview
Welcome message:

Dear Colleagues,

It is our great pleasure to announce that the 26th EORTC-NCI-AACR Symposium on Molecular Targets and Cancer Therapeutics will take place in Barcelona, 18-21 November 2014.  Hosted by the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC), the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), the 2014 Symposium will bring together around 2 000 academics, scientists and pharmaceutical industry representatives from across the globe to discuss innovations in drug development, target selection and the impact of new discoveries in molecular biology.

The EORTC-NCI-AACR 2014 Symposium is unique: it is THE scientific forum for developing drugs for the future. As a one-of-a-kind Symposium at the forefront of drug development, it will enable participants to apply the latest findings and knowledge in their work and practice. This edition will also build on the success of the previous symposium which was widely praised for the quality of its programme, inspirational contributions and exclusive insights.

Please note that this year’s meeting provides more opportunities for investigators to present original phase I data during an increased number of oral slots during plenary sessions.

During the last few years, numerous innovative agents have been discovered as a result of tremendous developments in the understanding of the molecular basis of cancer. Further clinical progress in cancer treatment will be accomplished mainly through the conduct of translational research projects, efficient new drug development and the execution of large, prospective, randomised, multicentre cancer clinical trials. This requires a collaborative, global approach, and early and optimal exchange of information. For these reasons, the Symposium has been organised to ensure the maximum amount of interaction and discussion through an exciting range of plenary sessions and lively workshops.

We hope that you will join us at this unique forum in Barcelona and we remain confident that you will make the most of this opportunity to strengthen your connections in the world of drug development, target selection and molecular biology.
