Epithelial Differentiation and Keratinization 2015
The 2015 Gordon Research Conference on Epithelial Differentiation and Keratinization remains the foremost conference on epithelial biology and will return stateside to Maine’s Mahoosuc mountain range and the beautiful Sunday River Resort. This year’s conference entitled, "Novel Concepts in Epithelial Function and Therapeutics", provides an open and exciting atmosphere for the exchange and dissemination of new research concepts and opportunities at the forefront of epithelial biology. The Conference aims to discover and define the most important scientific problems in our field, further the development of young investigators, and introduce and incorporate new concepts and advances from other fields.
To accomplish these goals, our program for 2015 will focus on emerging concepts of epithelial function and novel epithelial-based therapeutics. The meeting will begin with talks from two internationally renowned scientists working on the genetics and epigenetics of epithelial function: Elaine Fuchs and Pier Paolo Pandolfi. Subsequent sessions will focus on presentations from leading scientists and young investigators at the forefront of investigation in: mechanisms of epithelial carcinogenesis, innovative techniques in epithelial biology, advances in epithelial homeostasis and regeneration, current ideas in epithelial interactions with the environment, emerging concepts in epithelial adhesion and polarity, new insights into epithelial aging and metabolism, conceptual advances in epithelial evolution and morphogenesis, and novel epithelial based therapies for cancer, tissue regeneration, and autoimmune disorders.
Attending will be an outstanding cadre of interactive and dynamic speakers in these diverse areas, including basic researchers and clinicians, young and established scientists, and scientists from academia and industry. At least half of this year’s speakers will differ from the last meeting and approximately 30% of the talks will be selected from submitted abstracts, ensuring the discussion of the latest conceptual and technical advances. The Conference will feature an associated Gordon Research Seminar starting the day prior to the meeting, providing a wonderful opportunity for young scientists to network and present their research, in addition to attending the main Conference.
