Most hematological predominate in the elderly, and their incidence therefore increases with patient ageing everywhere in the world. In addition, management of those disorders at that age often requires specific approaches, in particular treatments with more limited toxicity. But ageing is also characterized by modifications in hematopoiesis and in the lymphoid system and in coagulation, with specific consequences like infections and thrombosis.
The goals of this conference are to define ageing in biological terms, especially with its consequences on bone marrow, lymphoid tissue and hemostasis, and resulting disorders. We will also stress the unique aspects of treatment related to ageing practically address treatment issues in the different types of haematological malignancies.
