Following up on a very successful EUROPEAN SYMPOSIUM on Oncologic Laparoscopic Upper GI and Hepato-Biliary Surgery in March 2016, the members of Department of General and Visceral Surgery at the University Medical Center Freiburg are delighted to welcome you again in Freiburg.


Minimal-invasive surgeons continuously develop new techniques and approaches to perform surgical procedures in every organ system of the abdomen. With increasing experience in the applied techniques major resections of all abdominal organs can now routinely be performed in a minimal-invasive fashion with scientifically proven oncological non-inferiority compared to well-established open procedures. In addition to laparoscopic approaches, in recent years robotic surgery has also emerged as a promising technical development for minimal-invasive oncologic surgery.


At our symposium we bring together international experts on oncologic minimal-invasive surgery, who will share with you their expertise and techniques they developed. The presentations of these experts are based on video sequences explaining you how these experts perform these challenging operations.


We will also discuss the scientific basis of minimal-invasive surgery and highlight key publications regarding oncologic laparoscopic and robotic surgery.


We would love to welcome you in the beautiful south of Germany for this outstanding event with fruitful discussions.
