Dear Colleagues,
Embolotherapy is playing an increasingly vital role in patient care, providing treatment options
for a tremendously broad range of medical conditions. These include gastrointestinal bleeding,
vascular malformations, trauma and endoleaks. Interventional oncologists are also making
important contributions to the fight against cancer thanks to significant advances in embolisation
techniques.
GEST Europe 2015 will cover all aspects of embolisation, offering first-rate presentations, discussions
and hands-on workshops on cutting-edge research, advanced techniques and issues of interest. Building
on the success of previous GEST conferences, the event has established itself as the ultimate resource
on embolotherapy, and attracts experts from all over the world. Over 1,000 participants attended
GEST Europe 2013 in Prague, the Czech Republic. For this year’s conference, the CIRSE Foundation has
again successfully worked with the organisers of the 2013 event to produce a premium programme
focused entirely on embolotherapy.
As always, multiple lectures and hands-on workshops will be dedicated to reviewing relevant embolics,
including coils and plugs, particles and gelfoam, and liquid options. The programme will also cover newly
emerging techniques such as prostatic artery and bariatric embolisation, as well as the relatively well-
established procedures used to treat uterine fibroids, vascular and lymphatic malformations, and trauma
patients. Vital topics such as managing endoleaks and gastrointestinal bleeding will also be addressed.
A session on cutting-edge technology will scrutinise a variety of intriguing developments, including the
use of nano-particles and robotic-assisted embolisation. Oncological topics include colorectal metastases
and HCC. Additional sessions will focus on the portal vein and spleen, visceral aneurysms, and the chest.
The diverse topics covered in case-based discussions include radioembolisation, pelvic trauma and complex
UFE. In addition, an industry exhibition will showcase various embolics, permitting participants to further
explore the many materials discussed during the event.
We are confident that the programme offers sessions of interest to all physicians whose professional
work touches on embolotherapy.
GEST Europe 2015 will take place in Seville, Spain from June 24 to 27.
