Improving the Diagnosis and Management of Osteoporosis : The Role of The Nurse Practitioner in Multi-Disciplinary, Patient-Centered Care is organized by Physicians Education Resource, LLC (PER) and will be held during Dec 29, 2017 - Dec 29, 2018.
The target audience for this medical event is Primary Care and Specialty Nurse Practitioners involved in the treatment and management of patients with osteoporosis. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 1.0 contact hour.
Conference Description:
Osteoporosis is directly attributed to an estimated 2 million fractures annually, incurring billions of dollars in hospitalizations and nursing home admissions costs. During this activity, expert faculty will review appropriate use of screening recommendations and risk assessment tools. Longstanding and new osteoporosis treatments will be detailed by their mechanism of action and potential side effects. The vital role of nurse practitioners will be exemplified with the many facets involved in patient education, targeted screening and effective treatment to improve quality of life and reduce fracture risk.
Conference Objectives :
At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
• Discuss Osteoporosis Screening Guidelines
• Describe Risk Factors Associated With Developing Osteoporosis
• Explain Each Osteoporosis Treatment Including Mechanism of Action, Adverse Events, Limitations, and Uses
• Describe a Goal Directed Treatment Plan Following Recommendations in Updated Guidelines for the Treatment of Osteoporosis
• Outline a Plan for Regular and Relevant Communication With and Education of Patients Regarding Both Pharmacologic and Nonpharmacologic Aspects of Care
