On behalf of the International Conference on Environmental Forensics 2013 (iENFORCE 2013) organizing committee, it is our pleasure to invite you to our International Conference from 12th to the 13th of November 2013 to be held in Putrajaya, Malaysia. This conference provides an internationally leading forum for interaction between scientists, consultants and public servants engaged in the multi-disciplinary areas of environmental forensics. 

The conference welcomes papers (oral and poster presentations) on the following (but not limited to) research topics: 

  • environmental monitoring

Dr. Tracy K. Collier




As Director of the Environmental Conservation Division of NOAA’s Northwest Fisheries Science Center, Dr. Tracy Collier supervises a research enterprise comprised of approximately 80 scientists.

His research interests over the years have covered some of the first work on metabolism of PAHs by fish, studies of the impacts of oil spills on marine fish and mammals, the enzymology of carcinogen activation and detoxication, and assessing overall effects of contaminants on fish populations through the use of field investigations. His current personal research interests are in the area of environmental toxicology, field investigations of causality, the use of marine mammals as sentinel species for assessing oceans and human health, and the ecological sequelae resulting from exposure to sublethal levels of chemical contaminants.

Recently he has become involved in assessing the impacts of human activities on marine mammals, and using analytical chemistry (stable isotopes, fatty acid rations, and chemical contaminant fingerprinting) to better understand life history traits of marine mammals.



Prof Dr. Wong, Ming Hung




Having served as the Regional Coordinator of Central and North-East Asia of the project “Regionally Based Assessment of Persistent Toxic Substances” sponsored by United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and Global Environment Facility (GEF), Prof. Wong has recently joined a panel of three to review a UNEP/GEF initiative “Emerging Chemicals Management Issues in Developing Countries and Countries with Economies in Transition” with the aim of understanding the sources and preventing adverse impacts of chemicals on human health and the environment in rapidly developing countries.

Professor Wong has published over 500 SCI papers and 32 book chapters, edited 25 books/special issues of scientific journals, and has successfully filed 4 patents. Professor Wong is currently the most cited Chinese scientist according to ISI Web of Knowledge (1 Sept 2012) in the area of Environmental Science and Ecology, and has been ranked first in the same area among the top 20 most influential Chinese scientists in the world based on paper citation frequency and the H-index (June 1990 – July 2009).



Prof Dr. Kim Kyoung-Woong




Professor Kyoung-Woong Kim is currently the Dean of International and public Affairs and Professor of Environmental Geochemistry at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology, Korea. He is the former Dean of School of Environmental Science and Engineering, Director of the International Environment Research Center (UNU-GIST Joint Program) and Director of the Center for International Students and Scholars (CISS), GIST.

Professor Kim is the recipient of numerous awards including the Prime Minister Commendation for Scientific Achievement, 2005, Republic of Korea; the Award for Academic Achievement, 2005, Korean Society for Geosystem Engineering, Korea; the Best Paper Award, 2004, Korea Environment Institute; the Excellent Paper Award, 2003, The Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies; and the Government Award for Scientific Achievement, 2003, Ministry of Science and Technology, Korea.

He is an Editorial Board Member of Environmental Geochemistry and Health (SCI Journal); an Editorial Board Member of Journal of Environmental Sciences (SCI Journal); an Editorial Board Member of Geochemical Journal (SCI Journal); a Steering Committee Member for the Asia-Pacific Branch of the Society for Environmental Geochemistry and Health; an FGS (Fellow, Geological Society of London); an International Committee Member of ICOBTE; a Steering Committee Member of KSEEG (General Secretary) and a member of IAGC.

Dr. Kim is the author of more than 120 peer-reviewed articles in international journals and many more in Korean journals as well as one book and several book chapters.

Dr. Kim received his Ph.D. from the Imperial College, University of London, Centre for Environmental Technology in 1993 and his M.Sc. from Seoul National University (Korea) in Mineral and Petroleum Engineering in 1989.

All accepted abstracts will be included in the conference proceedings published by Springer Verlag and indexed by SCOPUS. Prospective authors are invited to submit full-length original and previously unpublished papers prior to the acceptance of the abstract. Submitted full papers will be reviewed by a minimum of two reviewers. Review of your article will be sent to your e-mail stated in your registration. Selected papers will be published in Environmental Forensics Journal (special issue), Frontiers in Green and Environmental Chemistry Journal (special issue), Environmental Geochemistry Health (Q2), Springer AND Science of The Total Environment (Q1), Elsevier, provided that the author do major improvements and extension within the time frame to be set by the conference committee and responsible editors. Papers will be scheduled for presentation either orally or by poster, depending on the Conference Programme Committee recommendations.

 
 
Editorial Guidelines for Presented Content:

** NOTES: Only abstract with payment paid by 31 July 2013 will be included in the proceeding **



The extended abstract should be not more than 5 pages in length and submitted only in Microsoft Word format (*.docx or *.doc). Page size should be A4.

    • Do not use headers or footers
    • The Extended Abstract should contain: Highlights, Abstract, Introduction, Material and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusions, Acknowledgement (optional) AND References.
    • Highlights are mandatory for the abstract submission. They consist of a short collection of bullet points that convey the core findings of the article and should be submitted together with the abstract and please include 3 to 5 bullet points (maximum 85 characters, including spaces, per bullet point).

 

        The extended abstract submission should follow the formatting guidelines strictly. Use the provided template and change the content to reflect your works. All papers will be fully refereed by a minimum of two specialized referees. Before final acceptance, suggestions from the referees must be considered. The extended abstracts will be selected as oral or poster presentations and will be published in the cited Proceedings Book published by Springer-Verlag . Selected papers from the conference will be published in either selected citation indexed journals (SCOPUS/ISI) or as book chapters (with ISBN).
