Joint Optometry Conference of the African Council of Optometry and the Zimbabwe Optometry Association
We are pleased to invite you to the African Council of Optometry and the Zimbabwe Optometry Association joint Optometry conference. This conference will be held on the 09-11 October 2015 at the magical Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe at the Elephant Hills Hotel under the theme "harmonising health systems and legislation in an effort to combat preventable blindness in Africa". Experts from different facets of the profession and other relevant sectors will be sharing their knowledge and ideas on the conference theme and other interesting topics. Furthermore, this conference will bring together various professionals from all across Africa, thereby fostering relations amongst professionals on the African Continent.
The conference program will include plenary keynote session and a panel discussion that will address pertinent challenges aligned with the conference theme; ethics and clinical sessions that will have CET and CPD points; poster sessions and a trade exhibition. The African Council of Optometry and the Zimbabwe Optometry Association will also be holding their respective Annual General meetings before and during the event.

AFCO and ZOA are jointly soliciting abstracts to be presented at this 2015 joint conference. Any person wishing to make a presentation is invited to submit a proposal as outlined below. Proposals may include research results, case studies, or new and innovative diagnostic procedures or treatment techniques.

AFCO and ZOA reserves the right to accept Abstracts as either poster or lecture presentations
Presenting authors must be registered participants and attend the meeting
Submission of an abstract acknowledges your acceptance for the abstract to be published in all printed material of the Conference
Abstracts must be original and must not have been published or presented at any other meeting prior to the conference
Abstracts must be submitted in English
Conflicts of Interest / Disclosure: Work submitted for presentation must include an acknowledgement of funding sources of commercial nature and/or consulting or holding of significant equity in a company that could be affected by the results of the study
All studies must have been approved by institutional committees on ethics of experimental and human investigations
Abstracts submitted by fax will not be accepted
All presentations must avoid commercialism. Presentations that constitute promotion and advertising will be prohibited. This specifically includes pervasive and inappropriate use of logos
No advertising matter of any description may be distributed. No material may be displayed that in any way directly promotes the commercial interest of any particular company or enterprise, or of the author(s)/presenter(s)
If the cost of presentation has been underwritten to any extent, a clear acknowledgment stating support and identifying the particular source should be included (e.g., "The support of [name of corporation/institute] for this project is gratefully acknowledged.")
All accepted presenters/authors/speakers are required to register for the conference, and are fully responsible for all of their expenses related to the conference.
All Abstract must reach us by 1 May 2015 at 16h00 (SA Time)
Presenting authors will be notified by June 1, 2015 regarding the status of their abstract.
