Event Overview
Welcome message:

Is your reimbursement team up-to-date on the 2015 CPT coding guidelines? The AANSManaging Coding course trains clinical, professional and administrative staff on how to accurately apply and assign CPT codes for common neurosurgical procedures which in return will maximize reimbursement rates and minimize claim denials.

The ICD-10 mandate has been delayed until October 1, 2015. But don’t delay any further and make sure your practice is ready for the change. Learn how AANS can help you understand how these important changes impact your reimbursement teams and lead them to a smooth and effective transition.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this educational activity, participants should be able to:

Day 1 – ICD-10 Coding:

  • Describe two major differences difference between ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes.
  • Use relevant ICD-10 chapters and codes common to neurosurgery.
  • Describe key potential documentation deficiencies relative to ENT in ICD-10.
  • State two implementation actions that you can take now to prepare for ICD-10.

Day 2 and 3 – CPT Coding:

  • Identify and apply correct CPT codes to commonly performed spine and cranial procedures.
  • Describe the global surgical package meaning what’s included the pre-, intra- and post-operative global period.
  • Monitor practice financial vital signs and discuss strategies for improvement.
  • Improve the ability to choose E/M levels of service and code categories.
  • Determine when to use consultation E/M codes.
