This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 18.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits

Course Description :

Sharpen your imaging and diagnostic skills at this annual advanced OB-GYN ultrasound three-day CME conference. Hone your ability to accurately detect anomalies in a variety of screening scenarios, including complicated and high risk situations. Using both lecture and case-based approaches, faculty will cover imaging and diagnosis of abnormalities of critical fetal anatomical structures, with special emphasis on cardiac imaging. Obstetrical imaging during all phases of pregnancy will be also presented. Additionally, participants will explore the effective use of ultrasound in gynecologic evaluation. This engaging presentation of cases will deliver practical skills you can implement immediately when you get home. The combination of our highly rated expert faculty and our curriculum of progressive developments and evolving techniques in fetal imaging will keep you at the forefront of the field of ultrasound. This course is designed for physicians and sonographers in the fields of gynecologic and obstetric imaging, as well as residents in obstetrics and gynecology, or radiology, and fellows in maternal-fetal medicine. This course may also be valuable to family physicians practicing obstetrics, advanced practice nurses and physician assistants working in gynecology and obstetrics.

Conference Objectives are :

• Demonstrate how to perform an optimal fetal cardiac exam by watching live scanning by a physician and sonographer.

• Differentiate abnormally developing early pregnancies from normal based on sonographic correlation of anatomic findings.

• Perform a basic obstetrical ultrasound examination, fulfilling the requirements set forth by the ACOG, ACR, and AIUM for a first trimester scan and >14 week scan.

• Identify the ultrasound appearance of common and interesting fetal abdominal anomalies.

• Look for clues in evaluating ventricles to recognize normal and abnormal fetal brain diseases

• Utilize renal sonography to identify true hydronephrosis and avoid false positive diagnoses

• Describe definition of adherent placenta spectrum, risk factors, image acquisition and image interpretation

• Address Zika Virus concerns by recognizing which patients are at risk, identifying the sonographic features of congenital Zika Virus and developing a follow up testing and sonographic screening protocol

• Optimize resolution and evaluation of the fetal heart during the anatomy scan

• Recognize the classic ultrasound findings of ectopic pregnancy as well as ectopic pregnancies in unusual locations

• Understand the legal ramifications of performing obstetrical ultrasound and implement safeguards to mitigate your risk

• Discover the advantages of ultrasound for evaluating the female pelvis, including how to use ultrasound and physical exam at the same time

• Discuss common sonographic findings of female pelvic pain when evaluating pelvic problems including ovarian torsion and common gastrointestinal and vascular causes of pelvic pain

• Recognize various adnexal masses some of which are clearly benign and others more suspicious for malignancy
