Event Overview
Welcome message:

Primary care remains the main access point for major depressive disorder (MDD) treatment in the United States, yet major gaps are evident at each step along the management continuum, including delayed diagnosis, inadequate monitoring, and insufficient use of evidence-based treatment. The rural setting presents barriers to the management of MDD as patients have limited access to psychiatrists and other mental health providers. Thus, primary care practitioners in rural settings are likely the sole providers of MDD management, suggesting that education efforts are needed that specifically target the unique challenges these practitioners face when managing MDD.

Target Audience

This program is designed specifically for primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other healthcare providers in a rural health setting.

Objectives

After completing this activity, participants should be better able to:

         - Integrate measurement-based tools into the individualized treatment of MDD to better detect and manage inadequate treatment response, side effects, and residual symptoms.
