The MED|Ed Facilities Boston two day conference program developed by Conference Director Mark Kalin, FAIA FCSI LEED AP, will focus on topics that feature real-world, solutions-based case studies and /or management discussions.

Mark Kalin, FAIA FCSI LEED AP


 Mark Kalin (FAIA, FCSI, LEED) is a highly experienced specification writer, author, speaker, registered architect, and the President of Kalin Associates. Mark is a CSI certified construction specifier, USGBC LEED accredited professional, and one of only 27 individuals advanced to fellowship in both the American Institute of Architects and the Construction Specifications Institute. Mark has been involved in over 3,000 specification projects since 1984, including 180 LEED projects. He is the author of the original GreenSpec Database of Sustainable Products (1996), and has written chapters for both Green Building, RS Means and Construction Specifications (Wiley & Sons). Mark has authored numerous publications on specifications, product selection, and greespecs, presenting on these topics in over 100 sessions at both regional and national conventions. He has taught Architectural Specifications at the Graduate School of Design at Harvard Universityand is currently Chair of the Sustainable Facilities Practice Group of the Construction Specifications Institute. Long active in the American Institute of Architects, he has been Chairman of the AIA Masterspec Review Committee, the AIA Specifications and Building Technology Professional Interest Area and the AIA Library and Archives Committee. 


Prior to his own company, Mark was the Head of Specifications for Jung/BrannenAssociates, Boston, MA and Head of Specifications for Brown Daltas Associates, Cambridge, MA. He was the former Technical Director of AIA Masterspec, and author of over 200 master guide specifications.
