Mid-America Orthopaedic Association Annual Meeting 2019
MAOA is excited to announce that the April 10-14, 2019, Annual Meeting will be held at the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort in Miramar Beach, Florida, a new destination for the Mid-America meeting. The Hilton Sandestin Beach Resort is the largest full-service beachfront resort on Northwest Florida’s Gulf Coast. The Hilton is a great family destination with plenty of activities for all. The MAOA group rate includes junior suites that come with bunk beds in a small private alcove. Children of all ages and adults are sure to enjoy this location.

IMPORTANT – The Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort is in Miramar Beach, Florida – the Northwest coast of Florida (panhandle area).
The Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort area can be accessed by using the following airports:
Fort Walton Beach (Airport code VPS) – 24 miles to resort
Panama City (Airport code ECP) – 40 miles to resort
Pensacola Regional Municipal (Airport code PNS) – 65 miles to resort
Individuals can arrange their own transportation to/from the hotel by rental car, taxi, Uber, or Lyft.
SCIENTIFIC MEETING
A pre-meeting course will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2019, from 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Case-Based Controversies in Orthopedic Trauma). Dr. Justin Siebler, Chair of the pre-meeting course, has put together an excellent course you won't want to miss. 2019 pre-meeting agenda
The Thursday-Saturday portion of the MAOA 2019 Annual Meeting will include instructional courses, plenary sessions, symposia, ask the expert session, breakout subspecialty oriented sessions, and posters. Meeting in Brief schedule
Dr. Carlos Higuera, 2019 Program Chair, and the 2018-2019 Program Committee have put together an outstanding program for the 2019 Annual Meeting. Some highlights:
Ask the Expert and Case Discussions on Thursday, April 11, 2019, during the Plenary Session. Two topics will be offered: "How Do I Deal with Hip Instability?" and "From Native Septic Joints to Chronic PJI"
Symposia during each Plenary Session. The topics (State Regulations and Opioids - How Can We Still Manage Pain?; Emerging Trends in Health Care; and How to Transition to Elective Ambulatory Arthroplasty - Words of Experience) will be presented by a 2-3 person panel who are experts in that particular field.
Spotlight lectures scheduled during the breakout sessions. An expert in that particular breakout session will present a short talk, in addition to the regularly-scheduled talks.
Resident Quiz Bowl--all residents are invited to form a two-person team for this lively competition on Saturday morning.
