Welcome to the National Conference on Community Health and Nutrition, 8th March, 2015, Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Punjab, India.

The National Conference on Community Health and Nutrition is hosted and organized by Rahul Buddha Vihar Prabandhak Committee, SofiPind, Jalandhar, Punjab and IAPEN Jalandhar Chapter, The Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (IAPEN) on 8th March, 2015 at Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Punjab, India and specialized workshops will be held at Dr. Bheem Rao Ambedkar Cultural and Educational Activity Centre, Jalandhar, Punjab, India.

In order to promote Advanced Education in Community Health and Nutrition and to facilitate the academic pursuits of more number of Doctors, Clinical Nutritionists, Dieticians, Nurses and Midwives from the educational institutions, hospitals and meternary nursing home etc., The Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism announces the National Conference on Community Health and Nutrition with Advanced Workshop on Food in Medicine, Advanced screening and bio-statistics, Recent advances in public health management, Advances in Food Technology, Ayurveda, yoga and naturopathy.

A nationally renowned faculty will provide the latest and most relevant approaches to community health and nutrition issues for these patient populations. The conference will present content in a wide array of teaching styles such as didactic lectures, extensive question and answer and group discussion sessions, group workshops, and ample networking opportunities. Through this variety of teaching/learning styles, the faculty will enhance the knowledge of health care specialists in the nutritional components of maternal, infant and childhood care. The conference also includes special sessions on women empowerment in coordination with International Women’s Day, 8th March, 2014. The last session on 8th March 2014 will be on women empowerment that celebrates the women contributions to patient care and community. There will be special plenary talks, workshop and facilitation of eminent doctors, nutritionists, members of public health care, arts, sports and community sector. The conference also contains special Punjabi cultural events, fun trekking trips to Himachal Pradesh and many more interesting activities.

The National Conference on Community Health and Nutrition will provide an up to-date, informative insight into core nutritional aspects required for adults, elders, maternal, infant and childhood care. This National Conference will help community health experts, Nutritionists, Dietitians, Nurses and Midwives to independently excel and advance in this very specialized field of Nutrition.

Chairperson Dept. of Neonatology Sir Ganga Ram Hospital New Delhi

Padmabhushan Dr. Neelam Kler, is an Indian neonatologist and Chairperson, Dept. of Neonatology, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital New Delhi, known for her pioneering work on neonatal intensive care and ventilation. She is credited with developing neonatal care to better the survival rate of extremely tiny preterm babies (less than 1000 grams) to 90 per cent.

Rekha Sharma, R.D,

Rekha Sharma, R.D, has more than 30 years of experience in the field of Nutrition and Dietetics. She has worked at Boston Hospital for women, USA and as Chief of Dietetics at All India Institute of Medical Sciences New Delhi, India.  She is also member of many professional bodies and societies including a Health Core group “National Human Rights Commission”, Government of India.  She has been a recipient of many awards namely WHO fellowship to Johns Hopkins Medical Institution, USA and Joslin Diabetic center, Boston USA.  At present, Rekha is the President of Indian Dietetic Association and Director, Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, Diabetes Foundation (INDIA).

The scientific committee of the IAPEN conference seeks abstracts in the enclosed format for oral presentation on topics relevant to the conference. Accepted abstracts will be published in the proceedings and selected full length papers will be forwarded to The Journal of Nutrition Research for consideration towards publication.

Abstracts need to be sent as an email attachment to iapenmeet@gmail.com. The acceptance details will be intimated by email.

Topics Coverage: Practice, teaching, and research of community health, providing coverage of preventive medicine, new forms of health manpower, analysis of environmental factors, delivery of health care services, and the study of health maintenance and health insurance programs. Serving as a forum for the exchange of ideas and clarification, the journal features articles on those projects making a significant impact on the education of health personnel.

Author Instructions:

Abstract Preparation Guidelines: Please provide an abstract of 100 to 150 words. The abstract should not contain any undefined abbreviations or unspecified references.

The abstract/full length paper language is English. British English or American English spelling and terminology may be used, but either one should be followed consistently throughout the article.

Legal requirements: Submission of a abstract/full length paper implies: that the work described has not been published before; that it is not under consideration for publication anywhere else; that its publication has been approved by all co-authors, if any, as well as by the responsible authorities – tacitly or explicitly – at the institute where the work has been carried out.
