Accreditation Statement: The NYU School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Credit Designation Statement: The NYU School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 21 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This program will include 7.5 SAM credits. Pending Approval from the ABR

PART 2 of MOC: Lifelong Learning and Self-assessment

At least 75 AMA Category 1 CME credits are required every 3 years. A minimum of 70 percent must be in diagnostic radiology or related areas, with the remaining 30 percent either in clinically related areas or in relevant topics such as risk assessment, ethics, statistics, the processes of continuous quality improvement, methodologies of outcomes measurement, etc.

At least 25 of the 75 Category 1 CME credits must be self-assessment CME (SA-CME) (which includes SAMs). In addition to ABR prequalified SAMs, the ABR will count all AMA Category 1 CME activities in "enduring materials" (including web-based and print) and "journal-based CME" formats toward the MOC self-assessment requirement. Event Overview
Welcome message:

This course is designed to demonstrate how to accurately identify imaging findings that narrow the differential diagnosis for Thoracic, Cardiac, Abdominal, Musculoskeletal and Breast Imaging in order to ensure optimal patient care. Maintenance of certification requires continued review of essential imaging techniques in all areas of radiology.

While addressing up-to-date imaging protocols in these areas, this course will cover topics including: breast US screening, lung cancer screening, imaging shoulder instability, recent advances in imaging of the liver and CT/MR imaging of adults with congenital heart disease. The course will help radiologists and clinicians optimize imaging management in terms of appropriate selection of imaging parameters, sequences and exam selection, tailored to specific diagnoses or clinical conditions.

Educational Objectives

After participating in this activity, clinicians should be able to:

-Describe the increasingly widespread role of digital breast tomosynthesis to increase cancer detection, including using a tomosynthesis-guided vacuum-assisted biopsy system.

-Describe the current guidelines on how to manage pulmonary nodules found at lung cancer screening for both typical and atypical findings.

-Identify the latest specialized MR imaging techniques that can be used to replace CT imaging while providing the same treatment for the evaluation of certain patient groups, like those with Femoroacetabular impingement.

-Describe the advances in MR imaging sequences and techniques which enable rapid and accurate early detection of focal and diffuse liver diseases including NAFLD.
