New Zealand Anaesthesia Annual Scientific Meeting 2018
Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Middlemore Hospital Organising Committee it gives me great pleasure to invite you to join us in Auckland for the 2018 NZ Anaesthesia ASM, to be held at the Cordis Hotel Auckland, formerly Langham Hotel, from Thursday 8th to Saturday 10th November 2018.
Our meeting, ‘Face the Future’, is intended to inspire new ideas and equip you with new skills. We are planning an excellent scientific programme that will review current and future anaesthetic techniques, research, drugs and equipment. We also aim to enlighten delegates with guidance and resources for a sustainable working life.
We are very proud to announce our overseas keynote speakers: Duminda Wijeysundera from Toronto, Canada, with interests in perioperative medicine and general vascular anaesthesia; David Auyong from Virginia Mason, USA, with an interest in regional anaesthesia and information technology; and Laura Duggan from Canada, an internationally acclaimed airway expert and teacher. We are also very fortunate to have well-known local experts join us, including prominent Respiratory Physician and researcher Professor Richard Beasley.
The scientific meeting will appeal to a broad range of anaesthetists, working as superspecialists or general anaesthetists in public and private practice. Middlemore Hospital provides a wide range of services to a very diverse population from around New Zealand, and we want our meeting programme to be as diverse and interesting as our practice. We will run comprehensive workshops alongside the lecture sessions, including the full range of workshops required for maintenance of an ANZCA professional development portfolio.
In keeping with our theme, but appealing to a broader range of interests we have a few exciting non anaesthetic speakers, and we are extremely fortunate to have a number of prominent academics and scientists contributing to the meeting.
Auckland is a vibrant, cosmopolitan and beautiful city and our social programme aims to share some of the exciting visual, cultural and gastronomic attractions on offer.
Kind regards,
Dr Craig Birch
