Potpourri of Clinical Cases: Critical Thinking 

Objectives: 1) At the conclusion of the presentation, course attendees will be exposed to a number of challenging pediatric cases which will stimulate them to think more broadly and probe more deeply as to questions necessary for reaching a reasonable diagnosis


Management of the Common Cold – OTC Medications and Alternative Therapies 

Objectives: 1) Know which cough and cold preparations are not appropriate for use in children 2) Understand the potential adverse complications of particular ingredients within certain cough and cold preparations


Cervical Lymphadenitis and Deep Neck Infections 

Objectives: 1) Review the differential diagnosis of the most common causes of acute and subacute cervical lymphadenitis 2) Discuss the different appropriate treatment steps for nontuberculous lymphadenitis and cat scratch disease 3) Outline the age and clinical differences in retropharyngeal versus peritonsillar infections


Community Acquired Pneumonia and Bronchiolitis 

Objectives: 1)Review the agents most commonly associated with community acquired pneumonia by age 2) Highlight the various pulmonary presentations of Mycoplasma pneumoniae infections 3)Review most recent guidelines for office management of infants with bronchiolitis


Herpes Simplex Viral Infections in Children 

Objectives: 1) Review data defining the role of treatment in children with various forms of HSV infection 2) Highlight the clinical presentations of neonatal HSV infection


Skin and Soft Tissue Infections with an Emphasis on MRSA 

Objectives: 1) Highlight the most common forms of skin and soft tissue infections 2) Determine when S. aureus or S. pyogenes are more likely to cause infection 3) Outline a proposed scheme for managing recurring MRSA infections
