Course Description:
Depression is one of the leading causes of disability in persons 15 years and older. It affects individuals, but can impact families, businesses, and society. The US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommends that all adults be screened for depression because If only those showing symptoms were screened a significant proportion of individuals who do not display or disclose symptoms would be missed.
Because depression is commonly co-occurring with cardiac disease, diabetes and cancer, primary care practitioners are often the frontline providers of behavioral health care.
Course Objectives:
• Assess how closely your current assessment and treatment follows evidence-based recommendations.
• Identify areas of improvement and develop an improvement plan.
• Improve the care of patients with a diagnosis of major depressive disorder in clinical practice.
