YOUTH IN CONTEXT: INTERACTIONS AMONG ADOLESCENTS, ENVIRONMENTS, AND HEALTHCARE
March 9-12, 2016
Renaissance Hotel, Washington, D.C.
Adolescent health professionals often view adolescents and young adults through a lens which over-represents clinical settings. Most of the key determinants of health and development are outside our clinical environment, occurring within multiple contexts: community, family, and peer interactions; participation in athletic, artistic, academic and other formative pursuits; personal experience of violence, health risk behaviors, and medical conditions; exploration of spiritual and cultural values; and contributions to others through employment and volunteer activities. The goal of this meeting is to deepen the understanding of how these multiple contexts inform adolescent health and health care.

General Guidelines: All submissions of high quality research that advances the field of adolescent and young adult health are welcome. In accordance with this year’s theme, we are also soliciting submissions for poster presentations describing advocacy projects that positively affected the community context of youth. We welcome descriptions of completed projects that employed innovative advocacy or policy approaches to improve adolescent/young adult health at the local, state or national levels. Advocacy approaches implemented in countries throughout the world are encouraged.
The primary author will be notified by email as to whether or not the submission has been accepted. If your submission is accepted for presentation, all presenting authors are required to register to attend the meeting at the standard rates based on training and membership status. No registration discounts will be given.
The Program Committee will select the date and time of the accepted presentation. Multiple or similar submissions from the same study or clinic program are discouraged. Your submission will not be considered for presentation unless all elements are completed.
