SNMMI is pleased to announce the addition of this informative pre-meeting symposium, June 4-5, and available exclusively for Full Annual Meeting Attendees (additional fees apply).
The symposium seeks to provide current status of radiopharmaceutical therapy (RPT) with a particular emphasis on the key role played by dosimetry. RPT or therapeutic nuclear medicine is an underutilized modality with great potential; dosimetry can provide guidelines for more optimal, i.e. safe and effective treatment planning, in addition to providing insight into tumor dose-response relations.
A series of educational sessions will be provided, including:
An update on the current best dosimetric practices to achieve optimal treatment planning, including the role played by radiobiology and the role of dosimetry in pre-clinical to human translatiol
The role and current status of 3D image quantification with regards to the uncertainties associated with absorbed dose values,
A presentation of currently available #D dosimetry software, d) a session on regulatory issues concerning dosimetry as seen by the regulatory agencies themselves.
Understanding the role of dosimetry in RPT - prospectively for absorbed dose-based treatment planning and retrospectively for tumor dose-response
Understanding of latest best dosimetric practice to achieve stated role and knowledge of where to find further details and information, including availability of software, role of radiobiology and for the development of new RPTs from pre-clinical models
Knowledge of the respective regulatory agencies, their scopes of influence and regulation concerning RPT dosimetry.
An understanding of the current status of the uncertainties associated with dosimetry, the importance of explicit uncertainty values and the impact of image quantification upon said uncertainties.
