Event Overview
Welcome message:

Ultrasound guidance for procedures and diagnostics has advanced rapidly in the past decade in most all medical specialties and the acute care and emergency medicine settings are leading the way. Portable equipment with high quality images has permitted point-of-care imaging which is becoming the standard-of-care for both rapid, focused diagnostics and safe, effective procedures. This imaging is even being used in the battlefields of today.

Clinical ultrasound is now a core skill required in emergency medicine specialty training and fellowships focused solely on the procedures available for the interested physician; emergency medicine specialists are entering practice with these skills already in place. But there are numerous others already practicing who find themselves needing the skills without convenient access to streamlined opportunities to learn the requisite knowledge, skills, and attitudes to perform emergency bedside ultrasonography.

This course has been developed for these experienced practitioners who wish to add this expansion of existing knowledge and acquisition of the manual skills to safely, accountably and skillfully offer the advantages of ultrasound diagnosis and guidance to their patients. The course is focused on the knowledge, skills and attitudes serving as the basis for emergency ultrasound procedures important to the emergency medicine specialist; it is intended to allow the emergency medicine specialist to perform, interpret and integrate the data in an immediate and rapid manner dictated by the clinical scenario including patient condition, the degree of risk the illness/injury poses to the patient’s life and limb and the limitations on time this genre of conditions create.
