Our vision is to improve Primary, Emergency, and Critical Care Medicine by incorporating “point of care” ultrasound into clinical practice.  We work to bring quality “point of care” ultrasound to the patient in all out-of-hospital and in-hospital “critical” scenarios, by developing, on a global and multi-disciplinary basis, Ultrasound Education, Technological Development, Evidence-based Research and International Teamwork.

Submission Info

The 2015 WINFOCUS Congress Research Committee is welcoming submissions for research presentations on point-of-care ultrasound. Those interested in submitting original research for presentation at the Congress may submit their material to ginia@wellassembled.com no later than June 30, 2015. Decision letters will be sent by email to the first author by August 1, 2015.


All the accepted abstracts will be presented as posters and/or oral presentations at the 11th WINFOCUS World Congress in Boston, Massachusetts on Oct 22-23, 2015. Presenters must register for the Congress. Additionally, accepted abstracts will be published in the ‘Critical Ultrasound Journal’, the official Journal of WINFOCUS. The Journal is dedicated to point-of-care ultrasound in critical scenarios.


FORMAT

Abstracts must be submitted in English and conform to the below guidelines. Submissions should be typed and saved as a .doc or .pdf file and should not exceed 2500 spaces for the abstract, excluding title and author list. The abstract should comprise:


Title

Author list and affiliations

Objectives

Materials and Methods

Results

Conclusions.

The text should be carefully spell-checked. Use appropriate technical language. Do not include the author names or institutions in the body of the abstract.


POSTER SESSION

All accepted submissions will be presented at the moderated poster session. The maximum size for each poster area is 3 ft (height) x 4 ft (width). Presenters will be required to present their work.


ORAL PRESENTATIONS

Abstracts will be evaluated and scored by the WINFOCUS Congress Research Committee using the SAEM Scientific Abstract Scoring System (can be found at http://www.saem.org/docs/default-source/2015-Annual-Meeting/saem-abstract-scoring-2015_final_klf.pdf?sfvrsn=0). The top scoring papers will be selected for oral presentations. Audio-visual equipment shall be provided in the plenary room. Presentations should be prepared as Keynote or Powerpoint files.


AWARDS AND PRIZES

The Best Research Presentation will win the Golden Probe Award which includes a monetary prize. There will also be awards for Best Research by a Medical Student, Best Research on Economic Impact of Point-of-Care Ultrasound, and Best Outcomes-Based Research.

The meeting is a full-time affair, and we expect synergy between all participants, faculty and industry. The meeting agenda provides many opportunities throughout the day and evening for networking, such as hands-on workshops, breaks, poster viewings, and a Welcome Reception for all participants on Thursday, October 22, 2015.
